About the Role

Public Sector People is currently recruiting for an experienced Asset Engineer to join their local government client in the Asset team. Reporting to the Asset Manager, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the council's building assets. This includes preparation of asset management plans, building maintenance inspections, and managing capital works projects, including tendering. The diverse role will oversee a range of council assets such as depots, offices, community centres, sporting facilities, commercial premises, restaurants, kiosks, and a function centre.

About You

We are looking for an Asset Engineer with building experience and strong asset management, project management, and negotiation skills. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing demands in a high-pressure environment. They will also have exceptional interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus to effectively meet the needs of the community and key stakeholders.

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in either Building Construction, Facilities Management, or Building Asset Management.
  • Extensive practical experience in asset management, including preparation of building asset management plans.
  • Demonstrated extensive practical experience in construction project management and facilities maintenance.
  • Experience in sustainable building practices.
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders and contractors to achieve project objectives.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including high-level report writing skills.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and consultation skills.
  • Experience in budget planning and cost control.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing design consultants.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure.
  • Energetic and well-organised.
  • Highly developed sense of urgency and prioritising capabilities.
  • High-level computer literacy.
  • Class C Driver's Licence.
  • Commitment to WHS and EEO principles.
