Job Description:

About the Role

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Policy Adviser to coordinate and undertake policy development, evaluation activities and projects/programs for Health and related agencies.
  • The successful candidate will plan, implement, manage, and monitor projects/programs within their portfolio to ensure outcomes and expectations are achieved.
  • Key responsibilities include researching and evaluating policies to assess relevancy and potential impact on Government objectives.
  • Policy Advisers will provide sound information and advice on current and emerging policy issues to Senior Executives and key staff.
  • Maintaining knowledge of current policies and collaborating with stakeholders to identify issues and ensure desired outcomes is crucial.
  • The role requires effective communication and consultation skills to prepare high quality written reports, briefs, correspondence, and documents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Policymaking and Development: Develop, evaluate, and implement policies and programs that address current and emerging health issues.
  • Project Management: Plan, implement, manage, and monitor projects to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to identify issues and maintain knowledge of current policies.
  • Communication: Prepare high-quality reports, briefs, and documents to inform decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Advanced communication skills - both written and oral.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing NSW government briefs and reports.
  • Experience and interest in working in social policy - and ideally issues related to young children and their families.
