The Queensland Police Service is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Manager to lead the Crime and Intelligence Legal Services team. As a key member of the Legal Division, you will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice and guidance to senior management, investigators, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality legal advice and guidance on complex criminal law matters, including policy, procedures, and risk management.
- Lead the development and implementation of legal strategies to support the achievement of QPS strategic objectives.
- Manage the activities of the Crime and Intelligence Legal Services team, ensuring the fair allocation of workload and the provision of accurate advice.
- Represent the Legal Division and QPS at court and tribunal hearings, as well as internal and external committees and forums.
- Liaise with internal QPS units, external bodies, and government agencies to ensure effective collaboration and information sharing.
- Conduct legal research and provide recommendations on issues affecting law enforcement operations.
Requirements:
- Admission as a barrister or solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and enrolment to practice in the Federal and High Courts of Australia.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance to the minimal level of Negative Vetting Level 1.
- Possession of a degree in law from a recognized tertiary institution or equivalent qualifications.
