Mental Health Care Assistant

At our organisation, we provide shared housing and assistance for mental health participants with ongoing care needs. Our goal is to offer outstanding person-centred and recovery-oriented care through our support staff.

Our core mission is to promote and support a recovery based on hope and ambition for all residents, allowing their mental health to flourish.

As a mental health care assistant, you will utilise various evidence-based approaches to assist individuals in achieving a satisfying life while supporting their mental health recovery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing daily living assistance to participants with complex support needs
  • Assisting participants to integrate and engage safely into the community
  • Encouraging and mentoring participants to maintain independence by promoting social, vocational, and living skills
  • Building supportive relationships with individuals, their care team, and families
  • Offering emotional and crisis support
  • Accessing other support services and providing multi-level support during clinical consultations
  • Assisting participants in developing their daily living abilities
  • Using a person-centred approach to help individuals maximise their independence and confidence

Mentoring participants to establish daily routines and life skills, education, health and fitness, work skills and other duties as directed.
