Service Overview

We offer a comprehensive community mental health and wellbeing service for adults, families and carers. Our integrated care approach aims to enhance recovery outcomes by providing access to various support services, including clinical mental health services, care coordination and NDIS supports.

We also provide full DBT clinical and DBT skills building interventions to the community, empowering individuals to develop coping strategies and manage their mental health effectively.

Key Responsibilities

This role involves providing regular, flexible support to service users, assisting them in reviewing their needs and resources, and monitoring activities identified in client Support Plans.

You will be responsible for enabling clients to achieve independence in all areas of their life by providing appropriate information, opportunity, training and support. This may include performing Outcome Measures, data collection and utilising Supportability features such as roster management and record-keeping.

As a Peer Worker, you will play a vital role in advocating for our clients and facilitating their journey towards recovery. Your duties will also involve attending Communities of Practice, professional development activities and Critical incident management events.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a minimum of a Cert IV in a Community services related discipline (preferably a completed Bachelors or Diploma). Additionally, you should have experienced a mental illness which is now under effective management or lived experience of caring for someone having gone through mental illness.

Your knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Culture and ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Indigenous Clients are also essential. Experience, skills and knowledge in working with people experiencing mental illness, as well as the capacity to implement and facilitate capacity building activities with participants, are highly desirable.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Cert IV in a Community Services related discipline
