Casualty Underwriting Career Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Casualty Underwriter to join our team at AXA XL. This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented individual to grow their career in the insurance sector.

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in liability underwriting, with a proven track record of business development and underwriting success. They will be responsible for profitably growing the assigned portfolio through strategies such as thorough risk assessments, portfolio analysis, business development, strategic underwriting approach, relationship management, and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of potential clients and policies to ensure that the company is taking on profitable business.
  • Analyse existing portfolios to identify areas for growth and improvement, and evaluate the performance of current policies to identify trends and assess opportunities for upselling or cross-selling additional coverage.
  • Engage with brokers, clients, and industry professionals to source new business opportunities, and attend networking events and industry conferences to expand professional networks and generate leads.
  • Develop a strategic underwriting approach that balances risk management with profitability, setting clear underwriting guidelines, pricing strategies, and risk appetite to ensure the portfolio remains healthy and profitable.
  • Build strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to foster loyalty and trust, providing exceptional service and proactively addressing any issues or concerns to maintain satisfaction and retention.
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field of business or finance, and have proven experience in the insurance sector, particularly in liability underwriting. Advanced certifications or courses related to underwriting would be beneficial.

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and generous paid time off.
