Job Role Overview

The Well Construction Specialist is responsible for the planning, execution and management of well drilling and completion projects.

This role requires a highly experienced professional who can take ownership of projects from concept to delivery.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive well drilling and completion plans based on geological and engineering data
  • Lead the execution of drilling and workover activities ensuring timely and within-budget delivery
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements throughout operations
  • Monitor well performance and provide recommendations for optimisation strategies
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential issues
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align project objectives and deliver outcomes
  • Prepare technical documentation and post-project reporting to stakeholders
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline
  • 5-15 years' experience in drilling and/or completions within the oil & gas industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in well design, casing, fluids and well control
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic fracturing and advanced completion methods
  • Proficiency with industry software and engineering tools
  • Excellent communication, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Australian working rights and Professional Engineer (PE) certification required
