Job Opportunity: Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader

Waverley Christian College is seeking a part-time Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader to support our College-wide student wellbeing program. This role is government funded through the Mental Health in Primary Schools Program and is a fixed-term contract for the 2025 school year.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified VIT teacher who is passionate about supporting students with Mental Health and Wellbeing across our Primary Sub-Schools. In conjunction with key leaders of the College, this role will have a particular focus on designing and embedding a wellbeing program that is grounded in biblical principles.

The successful candidate will use their knowledge of teaching and the student experience to boost the capacity and capability of teachers' mental health literacy, help support teachers to know when and how to refer students internally within the College, and drive new mental health and wellbeing initiatives across the school.

The successful applicant must:

  • Be a qualified teacher and hold a current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
  • Have demonstrated ability to inform and influence the work of others involved in the engagement, mental health, wellbeing or learning of children and young people.
  • Have demonstrated experience supporting a student's mental health, wellbeing or learning by developing and maintaining connection with external services.
  • Have high-level communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have current First Aid qualifications and Anaphylaxis Certificate or be willing to obtain these prior to commencement.
  • Be able to show a commitment to the values and ethos of Christian education.
  • Be willing to get involved in all aspects of the College's programs and opportunities.

Some of the benefits of working at Waverley Christian College include:

  • College-funded training and professional development opportunities.
  • A range of salary packaging options.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Flexible work opportunities.
  • Wellbeing initiatives.
  • Career and leadership professional development opportunities.
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • Friendly and collegial community to work with.

Applicants are to include a Resume, Letter of Application, and complete the screening questions as part of the application process. Applicants will also need to provide three references. A First Aid Certificate (HLTAD011) and Anaphylaxis Certificate are also required prior to starting in the role.

All potential employees will be required to comply with the College's Child Safety Code of Conduct, Child Safety Policy, and Student Wellbeing Policy. We have zero tolerance for child abuse. You will be expected to contribute proactively to a culture of child safety at the College.
