Position Overview: Legal and Compliance Manager
A prominent organization in the logistics sector is in search of a seasoned Legal and Compliance Manager. This role is pivotal in ensuring adherence to legal standards and regulatory requirements within the organization.
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: To be determined
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research and review of legal documents, including commercial contracts.
- Deliver focused and practical legal advice across various business sectors, encompassing agreements, property management, workplace safety, project compliance, environmental regulations, disputes, and external relations.
- Lead and manage strategies for litigation, claims, and dispute resolution.
- Provide actionable insights on legal interpretations and the application of relevant laws.
- Oversee investigations into significant incidents and ensure compliance reporting to regulatory bodies.
- Maintain effective relationships with external legal counsel.
- Enhance the compliance framework, including the development of legislation registers, compliance education, and accountability structures.
- Ensure that significant legal updates are communicated to the executive team and relevant committees.
- Manage a team, setting objectives and operational plans to align with corporate goals.
- Act as a deputy to the General Counsel during their absence.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Law.
- Legal practicing certificate with a minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in-house.
- Comprehensive understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks.
- Significant experience in governance principles and their application in a corporate setting.
- Strong leadership capabilities with prior experience in managing legal teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a background in drafting policies, procedures, and reports.
- Experience in sectors such as logistics, construction, property, and dispute resolution is advantageous.
