Database Reliability Engineer

As a Database Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability and performance of our database systems. This includes maintaining a deep understanding of data components such as Cassandra, ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, Kafka, Zookeeper, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of data components including Cassandra, ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, Kafka, Zookeeper, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Operate and automate properly configured clusters.
  • Understand operating databases in Kubernetes and manage container images.
  • Develop infrastructure services to support a DevOps approach for engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Customer Support to troubleshoot time-sensitive production issues.

What You'll Need

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Configuration management (Chef)
  • Scripting in Python and Bash
  • Experience with large-scale datastores using Cassandra, ElasticSearch, Kafka, Zookeeper, and MySQL
  • Experience with large-scale, business-critical Linux environments
  • Experience operating within the cloud, preferably AWS, GCP, and OCI
  • Proven ability to work effectively with both local and remote teams
  • Strong decision-making skills, especially under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Independent yet collaborative with the prudence to ask for help when needed
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, CIS, or Engineering
