Data Engineer Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of impactful, Azure-driven data solutions.

Location: Canberra, ACT (flexible arrangements considered)

  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, engineers and cloud architects to build and support Azure-based data solutions that align with business needs
  • Design and maintain scalable ETL pipelines, ensuring secure, reliable and high-performance data transfers between systems
  • Develop and maintain data models that prioritise accuracy, consistency and long-term scalability
  • Promote data quality, security and governance throughout the entire data lifecycle
  • Produce high-quality documentation including data workflows, architecture diagrams and technical specifications
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a collaborative, solutions-focused manner
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement activities
  • Stay current with evolving technologies and industry best practice in data engineering and integration
  • Demonstrated experience in data engineering, including integration, ETL processes and data modelling, along with a sound understanding of data governance and compliance
  • Advanced SQL skills with the ability to develop performance-optimised queries, functions and stored procedures
  • Practical experience with Azure services such as Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Machine Learning, Functions and Blob Storage
  • Strong track record of managing competing priorities and delivering results under pressure
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills, including with distributed teams
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a natural ability to build and sustain effective working relationships
  • A degree in Computer Science, IT or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Certifications in Microsoft Azure Data Engineering or AWS Data Analytics
  • Working knowledge of RESTful APIs and DevOps practices in Azure environments
  • Familiarity with agile delivery frameworks and working in cross-functional teams
