Asset Manager Role Overview

The role of an Asset Manager is critical in ensuring the effective management of assets within an organization.

In this position, you will be responsible for maturing the asset management capability of the organization by implementing industry best practices and standards. This includes defining asset management policies, practices, and standards that align with the organization's strategic objectives.

You will lead a team of asset management professionals to provide leadership and advice across the organization's significant asset base. This includes observing network instrumentation, property and facilities, ICT, software, and intangible assets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining asset management policies, practices, and standards
  • Leading a team of asset management professionals
  • Ongoing review and refinement of asset replacement and investment plans
  • Sustainment planning and long-term strategic management of assets

The initial focus has been on the organization's observing network assets portfolio, which includes Radars, Automatic Weather Stations, Tsunami Buoys, Rain Gauges, and Flood warning equipment distributed across 12,500 sites across all states and territories of Australia.

Further expansion and implementation of asset management practices across other business areas is required. To succeed in this role, you will need strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of asset management principles and practices.
