Job Description

The Plant Operations Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable use of plant and equipment during foundations and bridge construction.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Mobilise, coordinate and plan heavy plant and equipment for piling, foundations, and bridge construction projects.
  • Monitor performance, implement preventative maintenance programs and manage utilisation effectively.
  • Provide technical advice on plant selection, capabilities, and operating procedures to site teams and subcontractors.
  • Rapidly respond to breakdowns, support repairs, modifications, and upgrades of plant and equipment.
  • Liaise with logistics teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless plant operations management.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing, compliance, and utilisation for all plant assets.
  • Support lift studies, equipment planning, and WHS, environmental, and quality compliance initiatives.
  • Assist with procurement, supplier engagement, and forecasting plant requirements to align with project timelines.
About You
  • Possess a relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience) and strong knowledge of heavy plant and equipment used in foundations and bridge construction.
  • Be able to interpret engineering drawings, plant specifications, and maintenance schedules accurately.
  • Demonstrate practical problem-solving skills, strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Have excellent communication skills to engage and build rapport with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Show flexibility and proactivity, with a willingness to work across both site and office environments.
  • Evidence a strong safety-first mindset, knowledge of WHS standards and safe work practices.
