This role involves providing individualized support to children and young people.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide direct person-centered support and care to young people, ensuring their individual needs are met.

  • Support young people to develop independent living skills
  • Support young people to achieve their goals
  • Support young people to engage in their local communities (through school, community groups etc.)
  • Daily care and support, including assisting with household duties
  • Transporting young people to and from appointments
  • Supporting connection to family and culture
  • Working alongside other professionals (such as Behaviour Support Practitioners) to deliver multi-disciplinary care.

  • Crisis intervention and ongoing support
  • Maintaining a safe and welcoming home environment
  • Empowering young people to develop skills which support them to live a good life within their local community

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A commitment to the safety of children, young people, and individuals with disabilities
  • An understanding of strength-based trauma-informed practice or willingness to learn
  • Qualifications in Community Services, Residential Care, Welfare, or related areas (Cert IV)
  • Previous experience in residential therapeutic care and complex trauma
  • Ability to obtain an NDIS Workers Screening Check prior to commencement
  • Ability to obtain a paid NSW Working with Children Check prior to commencement
  • Willingness to register on the NSW Residential Care Workers Register
  • Complete a National Criminal History Check (paid by the employer)
  • Ability to be physically active and engage with young people in activities such as games and sports
  • Ability to use computers and learn various software/programs
  • Hold a current Driver's License
