Job Description:

The Instructional Leader plays a crucial role in driving academic excellence and student success. This position is responsible for providing coaching and instructional leadership to identify and implement initiatives that enhance learning and achievement.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning to develop and implement a high-quality curriculum that meets the needs of students. They will be accountable for the administration of their Key Learning Area (KLA) and conduct regular observations to ensure teaching practices are aligned with best-practice standards.

The Instructional Leader will work collaboratively with teachers to improve teaching and learning, support them in writing and implementing quality programs, and ensure documentation is uploaded and compliant with NESA standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with teachers to create and deliver programs that optimize student agency and success
  • Be accountable for the implementation of a high-quality curriculum and provide direction and guidance in all matters related to curriculum, assessment, and reporting
  • Initiate and oversee the implementation of curriculum changes and developments to ensure the College is well-across national curriculum reforms
  • Ensure all documentation regarding teaching and learning is uploaded and up-to-date on the school system and compliant with NESA standards
  • Integrate Christian Worldview into each teaching program and evident in teaching practice through classroom observations
  • Liaise with the Inclusive Education Coordinator on issues concerning student learning needs

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

The Essentials:

  • Possess a living relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Hold an accredited Teaching Degree as recognized by NESA
  • Proven experience and expertise in Stage Four to Six Science
  • Ability to teach Stage Six Chemistry and Physics preferred
  • Positive classroom management skills and a desire to pastorally support and disciple students
  • High level of interpersonal skills leading to constructive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents
  • Proven capacity to work effectively in a team and to actively lead and support team members
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and oral

Other Valuable Skills:

  • Previous leadership experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated high level of understanding of the NSW Curriculum and Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
  • Capacity to provide leadership in the alignment of these areas
  • Well-developed administrative skills, including ability for NSW Curriculum documentation, assessment, and reporting
