Position Overview
The Faculty of Education at Southern Cross University is looking for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Education (Human Society and Its Environment) to influence the future of education through teaching, research, and community engagement.
Our Faculty is recognized globally for its excellence in collaborative and interdisciplinary educational and social research. We focus on critical issues in Australia and beyond, with research centers dedicated to Sustainability, Environment, and the Arts in Education, as well as early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities
This role offers a significant opportunity to educate undergraduate and graduate students in the essential area of Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE). You will also engage in innovative educational research, enhancing your influence in the field. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences, along with effective educational design.
- Conducting research and scholarship activities that align with the Faculty's goals.
- Participating in community and professional engagement to enhance the University and Faculty's reputation.
Candidate Profile

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant field, along with an initial teacher education degree and a proven record of high-quality teaching across various educational programs. Additionally, you should possess:
- Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating innovative curricula and teaching resources that improve student learning outcomes.
- A strong research or teaching scholarship record appropriate to your level, including publications in reputable journals and experience in supervising research candidates.
- Evidence of active participation in professional development, community engagement, and relevant professional organizations.
Compensation and Benefits
Our employees enjoy flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work options, generous leave provisions, wellness initiatives, and opportunities for professional development. This position is:
- Full-time and ongoing (permanent)
- Available at various locations with relocation support offered.
- Compensated at Academic Level C or B, based on qualifications and experience.
- Academic Level C: Salary ranges from $128,427 to $147,663 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation contribution.
- Academic Level B: Salary ranges from $105,344 to $124,585 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation contribution.
