Job Overview

This role involves working as a mental health specialist in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) at Shellharbour Hospital. The successful applicant will have extensive experience and skills in assessing, diagnosing, and treating complex mental health issues in children and adolescents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist psychiatric services to children and adolescents, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex mental health conditions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, social workers, and nurses, to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and peer review to ensure high-quality patient care.
Requirements:
  • Current registration as a Specialist Psychiatrist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Relevant qualifications and experience in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a public sector setting, preferably in a CAMHS service.
  • Knowledge of contemporary theories and practices in child and adolescent mental health.
  • Skilled in using electronic medical records systems and other relevant software applications.
Work Environment:

The successful applicant will be required to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on providing high-quality patient care. The position will involve shift work, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
