Child Adolescent Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill a Mental Health Clinician role within our team at the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.
This position plays a crucial role in providing innovative and best practice care to children and adolescents experiencing acute mental health distress as part of the Safeguards Team.
The Safeguards Team operates 7 days a week, with extended hours on weekdays, and provides rapid, mobile, and flexible care to resolve mental health crises, including assertive outreach, care coordination, and time-limited therapeutic interventions.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess and transition children and young people to Children and Adolescent and Youth Mental Health Services or other appropriate treatment providers.
- Collaborate with the Child and Adolescent Consultation Liaison Service to ensure assertive outreach needs are met for consumers of the service.
- Facilitate, implement, and evaluate care management pathways for consumers with complex health needs who are at risk of admission to hospital.
- A qualification as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, or Allied Health Professional, with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (if applicable).
- Extensive direct clinical experience of Child and Adolescent presentations, including demonstrated complex acute assessment, care planning, and treatment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in using evidence-based family and individual intervention models to support children, adolescents, young people, and their carers to engage in appropriate mental health care in the community.
