Position Overview

Are you an enthusiastic and committed educator with a background in special education? We are looking for a Primary Special Education Teacher to provide exceptional educational experiences for children with Autism in a caring and inclusive atmosphere.

In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering personalized educational assistance to students with Autism within a small classroom environment. As the primary educator, you will be responsible for designing, executing, and evaluating individualized learning plans that cater to the unique needs of each child.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement stimulating lessons that align with the Australian Curriculum, specifically designed for the diverse abilities of students with Autism.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow educators, families, and external professionals to foster a nurturing educational environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Employ research-based teaching methodologies and assistive technologies to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, adapting instructional strategies and interventions as needed to ensure ongoing advancement.
  • Provide consistent feedback to students and their families regarding academic achievements, strengths, and areas needing improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related discipline.
  • Valid teaching certification and NESA Accreditation.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children with Autism or other special educational needs.
  • Strong knowledge of effective practices in special education and differentiation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a capacity to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and external partners.
  • Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • First Aid certification is preferred.

This position is a fixed-term contract that may extend for suitable candidates.
