Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Aboriginal Education and Cultural Development Specialist to join our team. This is a permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) position commencing in 2025.

As an Aboriginal Education Officer, you will play a key role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families, teachers, the school, and the wider community.

Your primary responsibility will be to assist teachers in implementing educational and behaviour management programs that cater to the diverse needs of students.

You will also provide essential mentoring and pastoral care, particularly for students at risk, ensuring their engagement and success within the school community.

In addition, you will support teachers in implementing the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework, fostering a deeper connection and respect within the school environment.

We collaborate as a whole school, embracing an inclusive approach where everyone shares responsibility for each child's growth and development.

Requirements
  1. An Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
  2. A valid Working With Children Check before starting employment.
  3. Consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
