Since 2001, we have provided Through-Life Support to the Royal Australian Air Force's 34 Squadron, based at RAAF Fairbairn. Our high-performing Special Purpose Aircraft (SPA) team consists of around 50 professionals who deliver comprehensive maintenance, training, and logistics support for a fleet of business jets.

Your Role

As the Operations Manager for our esteemed SPA program, you will maintain the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational excellence that characterize our aviation services. This unique position involves overseeing the complete maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft and engines within a program known for its exceptional performance. You will ensure that every aircraft under your supervision is in optimal condition and ready for service. Your responsibilities will include scheduling inspections, managing external repair services as needed, and authorizing aircraft releases, all while adhering to our stringent standards.

Reporting to the SPA Program Manager, you will lead the SPA AMO workforce, ensuring alignment with operational requirements. Your role is crucial in upholding the safety and regulatory compliance that our program is recognized for, while fostering continuous improvement in maintenance practices and operational efficiency. Your leadership will be essential in sustaining and enhancing the esteemed reputation of the SPA program.

About You

You are an experienced professional with a background in Aviation Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, supported by formal qualifications such as a Civil or Military Aircraft Trade Certificate. Your comprehensive knowledge of Australian Civil and Defence Aviation regulations, combined with practical experience in maintenance control systems and OEM service literature, positions you as a leader in your field.

Your leadership style is characterized by strong negotiation skills and clear, authoritative communication, enabling you to effectively guide teams and collaborate with high-level stakeholders. Your meticulous attention to detail and analytical abilities empower you to make informed decisions that prioritize both safety and efficiency. With a strong commitment to customer service and excellence, you are dedicated to upholding the high standards of the SPA program while developing your team. Your focus on leadership and continuous improvement will contribute to maintaining and enhancing the strong reputation of our SPA program.
