Job Description

We are seeking skilled and compassionate nurses to provide high-quality care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The ICU is a 32-bed tertiary intensive care unit equipped with highly skilled staff, equipment, and facilities carefully coordinated to ensure the best possible treatment for critically ill patients.

Flinders Medical Centre provides care for the continuum of life span providing a unique opportunity for ICU staff to care for paediatric and obstetric patients as well as the full spectrum on adult ICU care requirements including trauma and ECMO.

  • Provide direct person-centred nursing care and individual case management to patients on a shift-by-shift basis in the Intensive Care Unit.
  • Assess clinical status of patients and provide appropriate ICU therapies in collaboration with ICU multi-disciplinary team.
  • Support and guide newer or less experienced staff and student nurses providing nursing care.
  • Provide health promotion and education, to patients and carers to improve the health outcomes of the individual.

  • Deliver exceptional patient care and management.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong communication skills.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in ICU practice.

Requirements:

  • Be a qualified ICU nurse or have 2-3 years of acute care nursing in the Australian Healthcare system looking to commence ICU specialisation.
  • Display a compassionate and patient-centred approach to care.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to be self-directed, and commitment to ongoing training and development.
