It is also home to South Australia's first high-field MRI for pets.

Nurses are at the heart of our team, and so much of what our team can achieve for our patients is largely due to our talented nursing team. We are looking for Veterinary Technician Specialists (Emergency to join us in Adelaide working closely with our Criticalists and their experienced team of emergency vets. This is a full-time, permanent position with flexibility across a 7-day roster required.

We are looking for a passionate tech who can work independently, with a reliable, adaptable, and proactive approach to your work. We are looking for team members with the following skills:

• Collaborate with the Critical Care Specialists to provide gold-standard intensive care to critical, vulnerable, and dynamic hospitalised patients in the ICU
• Assist with and/or perform advanced interventions such as placement of central, PICC and arterial lines, direct arterial pressure monitoring, urinary catheter placement, feeding tube placement, high flow nasal oxygen provision, and mechanical ventilation
• Participate in and lead CPR resuscitation efforts
• Assist with admissions and discharges from the ICU
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
• Conduct and collect various laboratory samples for internal and external analysis
• Assist with transfer to and reception of critical care referrals from general practice veterinarians
• Support the emergency department with triage and procedural responsibilities
• Assist with critical care anaesthesia in collaboration with anaesthetists within the SASH network
• Demonstrated leadership qualities with a passion for supporting and guiding junior nurses, including creating teaching moments and helping them understand common diseases and clinical presentations in the ECC setting

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

• Obtained or close to obtaining, the Veterinary Technician Specialist (Emergency & Critical Care) credential
• A minimum of 5 years, of full-time experience as a qualified nurse
• Previous experience in Emergency, ICU or referral medicine is essential
