Critical Care Specialist - Intensive Care Unit

We are seeking skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals to join our team in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as Critical Care Specialists. The ICU is a 32-bed tertiary intensive care unit equipped with highly skilled staff, equipment and facilities carefully coordinated to ensure the best possible treatment for critically ill patients.

The ICU has specialised training programs designed to provide fast, effective work-based training enabling sound transition to post-graduate studies in critical care. As an accredited training hospital, we offer a supportive environment for professionals to develop their skills and advance their careers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing direct person-centred nursing care and individual case management to patients on a shift-by-shift basis in the Intensive Care Unit.
  • Assessing clinical status of patients and providing appropriate ICU therapies in collaboration with ICU multi-disciplinary team.
  • Supporting and guiding newer or less experienced staff and student nurses providing nursing care.
  • Providing health promotion and education, to patients and carers to improve the health outcomes of the individual.

Requirements:

  • To be a qualified ICU nurse or have 2-3 years of acute care nursing in the Australian Healthcare system looking to commence ICU specialisation.
  • Employees who have completed a TPPP program with 12+ months ICU experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and holds a current practicing certificate.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • A compassionate and patient centred approach to care.
  • Ability to be self-directed, and commitment to ongoing training and development.
