About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineer with the Australian Defence Force, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the ship's mechanical engineering plant. This includes power, propulsion, and auxiliary systems. You will be a trusted member of the ship's Command Team, providing technical advice and recommendations to achieve the mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain ship structures, including tanks, compartments, and masts
  • Oversee propulsion systems, electrical generation and distribution, and domestic and associated mechanical services
  • Lead a team of marine technicians and provide technical guidance and support
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of main and auxiliary machinery, diesel and gas turbine engines, automatic and remote-control systems, hydraulic systems, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, and ventilation systems
Professional Development

As a Navy Engineer, you will have the opportunity to continue your professional learning and development throughout your career. This will enable you to achieve Chartered Engineer (CPEng) accreditation with Engineers Australia, providing international recognition of your engineering competency.
