About this opportunity

Mechanical apprentices work with our team to construct and repair ships, learning the skills needed for a successful career in engineering.

We are currently seeking new mechanical apprentices to join our program based at the Osborne Naval Shipyard. Our team is responsible for designing and building Hunter class frigates, and we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who want to learn and grow with us.

As a mechanical apprentice, you will gain practical experience working on site, while completing a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade. You will have the opportunity to work with experienced engineers and technicians, learning the latest techniques and technologies used in the industry.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist with removing, repairing and installing mechanical components and equipment.
  • Participate in preventative and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Use workshop machines to produce components.
  • Apply health and safety processes in the workplace.
  • Contribute to improving business culture with regards to people, process and systems.
