Research and Analysis Professional

We are seeking a Research Analyst to join our team in Victoria, British Columbia. The Research Analyst plays a critical role in advancing growth in plan membership through targeted research and strategic planning.

This dedicated position is tasked with conducting in-depth analysis of prospective client segments, identifying regulatory constraints, and evaluating key issues that influence the direction and success of the Municipal Pension Plan.

The Research Analyst will be instrumental in synthesizing complex data into actionable insights, supporting the development of evidence-based strategies, and contributing to the refinement of expansion initiatives.

The core responsibilities of this position include planning, organizing, and executing research projects that may inform policy development and support strategic priorities.

• Provides research, statistical, and analytical services by estimating timelines, selecting research methodology, determining resource requirements, providing advice, preparing reports, and forwarding results for review.
• Conducts research using established methodologies and techniques such as surveys, data reduction, scaling, and literature reviews.
• Identifies and collects qualitative and quantitative data from established information sources such as BC Stats or pursues new information sources relating to relevant issues.
• Reviews and verifies the value and accuracy of information, defines relationships, differences, and anomalies in information sources.
• Conducts information analysis involving demographic, economic, social, political, and risk-related factors and identifies emerging issues, trends, and/or implications.
• Reviews and interprets research studies to produce summary reports, recommendations, and conclusions.
• Effectively presents research outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences using various formats.
• Coordinates, collects, stores, and maintains electronic data using statistical and database software packages.
• Contributes content to the development of strategic plans, meeting backgrounders, notes for the Executive Director, and Board of Trustees.
• Develops descriptive reports and presents diverse issues using statistical summaries, fact sheets, discussion papers, and briefing notes subject to review.
• Participates in joint projects with stakeholders, inter-governmental partners, and consultants by attending planning meetings, documenting project plans, gathering information, and preparing summary reports.
• Prepares follow-up information in response to inquiries and requests for information requiring detailed research, analysis, and interpretation of pension plan issues.

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field, and one year of experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Experience conducting research and analysis of issues to support the development of policy or evaluation of programs.
• Experience understanding, integrating, and communicating data to convey complex results to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience synthesizing research into clear, actionable reports or presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience with M365 and Power BI or other database platforms.
