About the Role

This position presents a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by assisting with planning and developing courses that meet the requirements of accredited programs and training packages.

As an Aboriginal Identified Teacher, you will be responsible for conducting classes and sessions with offenders to meet their educational needs under the principles of adult learning.

You will also participate in evaluating processes including validation and modifying assessments, as well as administrative duties such as recording offender attendance, progress and achievements.

This role is crucial in contributing to reducing inmate reoffending and increasing community safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct classes and sessions with offenders to meet their educational needs under the principles of adult learning
  • Participate in evaluating processes including validation and modifying assessments
  • Perform administrative duties such as recording offender attendance, progress and achievements
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A qualification in Education as outlined in the Crown Employees (Education Employees Department of Justice – Corrective Services NSW) Award
  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent
  • A current Driver Licence and preparedness to drive as part of the role
  • Proof of Aboriginality
