Editorial AI Quality Assurance Engineer Job Description

This is a critical role where you will ensure the integrity of AI-assisted journalism across all deployments. As an Editorial AI QA Specialist, you will immerse yourself in real-world newsroom applications and rigorously test systems against core journalistic principles.

Using actual news content and scenarios, you will identify risks, validate outputs, and ensure our AI tools meet exacting standards before deployment. This role can be worked from any of our head offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Queensland, or Adelaide.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct comprehensive testing using authentic journalistic content and newsroom scenarios to evaluate AI tool performance and reliability.
  2. Assess AI responses against editorial guidelines, checking for factual accuracy, contextual relevance, appropriate tone, and ethical compliance.
  3. Partner with the AI Prompt Engineer to provide detailed, actionable feedback that refines and improves system performance.
  4. Design and execute regression testing procedures as AI models evolve, documenting performance changes and maintaining quality benchmarks.
  5. Champion quality best practices and uphold the integrity of AI-assisted journalism across all deployments.
Requirements:
  1. Strong understanding of journalistic principles and ethics, with appreciation for editorial integrity.
  2. Proven QA experience, preferably in media, technology, or content-focused environments.
  3. Exceptional analytical skills with methodical approach to testing.
  4. Strong problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.
  5. Clear communication skills and collaborative working style.
  6. Familiarity with AI technologies and NLP (advantageous).
