About the Role:

As a seasoned leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of crisis support services for survivors of sexual assault and violence. To excel in this key leadership position, you will provide strategic guidance and support to Counsellor/Advocates, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, evidence-based services that cater to the diverse needs of victims/survivors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership and management to a team of experienced Counsellor/Advocates, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation in crisis counselling and advocacy practices
  • Ensure seamless day-to-day operations of the Sexual Assault Crisis Line (SACL) service, overseeing core service delivery and roster management to guarantee adequate staffing and coverage
  • Offer expert clinical supervision to SACL staff, facilitating their provision of high-quality crisis care, counselling, and advocacy services in line with established best practices and professional standards
  • Undertake regular direct practice clinical shifts and participate in the on-call roster to remain grounded in the realities of frontline service delivery
  • Collaborate closely with Counsellor/Advocates to develop informed secondary consultations, referrals, and plans to address complex issues and multiple needs presented by victim/survivors
  • Empower victim/survivors through inclusive decision-making processes and regular reviews to ensure their voices are heard and valued

Requirements:

  • Hold tertiary qualifications in Social Work or a relevant health profession with a strong focus on trauma, attachment, and development, complemented by practical experience in counselling or case work
  • Be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or another relevant professional body
  • Possess at least 7 years of post-graduate experience in Social Work or a related discipline, coupled with extensive crisis counselling expertise and specialist knowledge in supporting survivors of sexual assault and violence
  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills in complex environments, including the ability to respond to crisis situations and implement change initiatives
