About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Hydraulics Engineer to join our Melbourne Buildings and Places team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading hydraulic projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers, and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as Hydraulics lead on projects, collaborating with engineers on major projects and developing junior engineers within the business.
  • Sign off on designs and calculations, and assign tasks to junior engineers, providing cost-effective solutions to clients.
  • Deliver projects and manage client relationships, consulting with stakeholders on key project drivers to determine the best hydraulic solutions.
  • Support the national Hydraulics team on various projects, enhancing your skill set and technical knowledge.
  • Be involved in design services including rainwater harvesting, sanitary plumbing, and drainage, trade waste drainage, potable and non-potable water reticulation, hot and warm water systems, energy-efficient and solar hot water heating, and specialist water systems.
Requirements
  • 10+ years' experience in a consulting environment, preferably with exposure to Australian standards and codes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
  • Relevant TAFE qualification or Engineering degree, alongside RPEV.
  • Full working knowledge of the MS Office suite, with exposure to relevant industry software (Revit knowledge preferred).
  • Australian Citizenship (or on the pathway) is highly preferred.
