Communications Coordinator

The role of Communications Coordinator at Wollongong City Council involves creating and delivering targeted communications plans aligned with the council's environmental priorities.

  • Create compelling content for web, social media, and print that highlights the importance of preserving natural values and preparing communities for climate change.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive community participation and engagement in environmental initiatives.
  • Support media relations and contribute to the council's broader communications efforts.
  • Analyse engagement data and prepare reports to inform strategy and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to promote environmental awareness and engagement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver effective campaigns and content.
  • Write and edit engaging content for various platforms, including social media, website, and print materials.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including media, community groups, and other organizations.
  • Monitor and analyze engagement metrics to inform future communications strategies.

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree or experience in communications, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Digital content creation expertise, including photography and video production.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Strategic thinking and project management abilities.

Working Conditions:

  • Part-time position (14 hours per week).
  • Fixed-term contract until August 2028.
  • Based in the office with flexibility scheduling available Monday to Friday.
