Job Title: Health and Safety Specialist

This role offers a unique opportunity to drive safety practices that positively impact employees' work lives.

  • As the primary WHS expert, you will oversee return-to-work management, Workers Compensation, and ensure our organisation remains compliant with safety regulations.

You will lead audits, refine WHS processes, and maintain a culture of safety. Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve safety-related performance issues and investigate incidents with a holistic approach.

Coordinate medical support, including arranging GP, physiotherapy appointments, and specialist consultations in conjunction with insurers and our Well@SHEL program.

Manage and report on workers' compensation costs while tracking and analysing premium reductions to contribute to our organisation's cost savings.

Advocate for physical and psychological safety by promoting awareness, safe practices, and fostering an environment where wellbeing is prioritised.

Research, source, and arrange training in relevant safety topics related to early learning services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and refining WHS processes, conducting regular audits, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Leading return-to-work plans, collaborating with injured team members, their managers, insurers, and stakeholders to facilitate seamless transitions back to meaningful duties.
  • Collaborating with relevant stakeholders to resolve safety-related performance issues, addressing team impacts, and supporting incident investigations with a comprehensive mindset.
  • Coordinating medical support, including arranging appointments, and consulting with insurers and our Well@SHEL program.
