About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a three-year postdoctoral researcher to join our centre as part of the Zero Net Emissions Agriculture initiative. The position will focus on developing tropical grasses with low methanogenic properties to help combat agriculture's impact on the environment.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary research team focused on advancing sustainable livestock feed through applied plant biotechnology, tissue culture, and physiology. The role offers a mix of laboratory, glasshouse, and data-driven work in a dynamic research environment.

  • Establish a research program, collaborate on projects, seek funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
  • Supervise students, facilitate engagement opportunities, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits to develop researcher capability and skill.
  • Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.
About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual to fill this role. The successful candidate will have:

  • A PhD degree qualification in crop science or related field.
  • Demonstrated practical research skills and experience in relevant methodology or techniques such as tissue culture, plant physiology, and molecular genetics.
  • Experience in feed quality, protein/starch assays, or plant cell wall chemistry is advantageous but not essential.
  • A track record of supervising students and facilitating engagement opportunities.
  • Well-organised, methodical, self-motivated, and able to work independently on routine procedures while also collaborating effectively within diverse teams.
  • A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
