Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Sports Turf Management Apprentice. As an apprentice, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills in turf management, working with our experienced team to maintain and develop public open spaces, sports grounds, parks, gardens, and streetscapes.

The apprenticeship is 48 months long and includes formal training at TAFE. You will be responsible for preparing surfaces for play, growing and maintaining grass on golf ranges, turf wickets, general sports fields, schools, and parks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install pressurised irrigation systems
  • Operate machinery and equipment
  • Implement a plant nutrition program
  • Provide information on plants and their culture
  • Control weeds
  • Control plant pests, diseases, and disorders
  • Construct turf playing surfaces
  • Establish turf
  • Implement a grassed area maintenance program
  • Reno sports turf
  • Contribute to work health and safety processes
  • Implement a plant establishment program
  • Implement soil improvements for garden and turf areas
  • Install drainage systems
  • Operate pressurised irrigation systems
