Tweed Shire Council is seeking an Apprentice Sports Turf Management Specialist to join their Parks & Active Communities team. This exciting opportunity will provide hands-on experience and training in turf management, while working towards a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management.

This role offers a unique chance to gain valuable skills and knowledge in sports turf maintenance, including establishment, development, and upkeep of sports fields and turf wickets.

">Key Responsibilities:">
  • ">
  • Assist in the establishment, development, and maintenance of sports fields and turf wickets.">
  • Prepare seed beds for new turf and establish turf through watering, sowing, seeding, and repairing weed damage.">
  • Mow, roll, and level turf surfaces, operate power tools such as mowers, aerators, cultivators, and line marking equipment.">
  • Operate and maintain pressurised irrigation systems and maintain turf by repairing, fertilising, and top-dressing lawns.">
  • Collaborate effectively with sports clubs and Council staff to ensure excellent customer service and teamwork.">
">Requirements:">

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a genuine interest in turf management, horticulture, or landscape maintenance, and possess competent written and verbal communication skills.

You will also need to have a positive attitude, self-motivation, and a strong capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team.

A current car driver's licence is also essential for this position.

Competent written and verbal communication skills are required, along with a strong commitment to working safely.
