About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as an Access Technology Specialist. In this role, you will work closely with clients who are blind or have low vision to provide tailored support and training in the use of assistive technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide functional vision assessments and recommendations to clients of all ages, focusing on their individual needs and goals.
  • Develop and deliver Access Technology training to clients, either individually or in small groups, in a variety of formats and environments.
  • Provide information to clients and their carers/family about eye conditions, appropriate to their needs.

Requirements:

  • Degree-level qualification relevant to the delivery of Access Technology services, or extensive experience in the provision of technology support and training for people who are blind or have low vision.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable).
  • A working knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of a range of access technologies, including screen access technology, print access technology, and Braille equipment.
  • Approved qualifications in Orthoptics, as recognised by the Australian Orthoptic Association.
  • Registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board (Professional Body Registration, where applicable).
  • Knowledge and skills in working with children, adults, and older adults.
