Curator Role

The Sea Power Centre - Australia is looking for a Curator to manage the Boatshed Heritage and Learning Centre on Garden Island.

This role involves being responsible for the centre's activities in Sydney, coordinating heritage displays across Navy bases in Sydney, and enabling stakeholder organisations to enhance their exhibitions in Sydney.

The Curator will work closely with other curators across the country working for Navy and with the team establishing a Heritage Repository at Banksmeadow, NSW.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate experience in managing facilities and personnel, developing and implementing plans for conservation and exhibition of artefacts, monitoring museum industry standards and trends, and providing advice on information regarding collection items.

Key Responsibilities:

About Our Team

We are part of the Deputy Director Heritage Network, working to collect, conserve, interpret and exhibit artefacts that contribute to the ongoing education of our Navy and Defence people, as well as the Australian public.

We work as part of the Sea Power Centre - Australia informing and educating audiences about the use of sea power in the Australian context.

To succeed in this role, applicants will be required to demonstrate ability to work under limited direction, collegially with a small diverse team, including coaching and supporting others to increase their museum knowledge.
