Job SummaryWe're seeking a highly skilled Chief Engineer to lead our Sustainment engineering and technical team. As a key member of our program management team, you'll be responsible for overseeing and ensuring engineering work is carried out in accordance with approved plans and processes.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a team of engineers and technical staff to deliver on engineering activities
- Work closely with government clients and subcontractors to ensure successful project outcomes
- Establish and lead the development of an Engineering Management System aligned with Viasat's engineering processes
- Ensure system configuration baselines are handled through approved change processes
- Delegate and manage Technical Authority to ensure work is carried out to approved standards
- Provide guidance to program management and collaborate with government clients
- Maintain engineering management system documentation and participate in Configuration Control Boards
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering and Professional Chartered Engineer in accordance with Engineers Australia requirements
- Experience in leading and running multi-disciplined engineering teams within Defence projects, particularly in Sustainment projects
- Strong coordination and prioritisation skills, leadership skills to guide and motivate teams
- Deep understanding of Defence engineering frameworks and standard methodologies
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain links with government clients and subcontractors
