Senior Technician Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technician to join our Geological Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for guiding and mentoring junior technicians to ensure the successful delivery of geological services.

Your primary focus will be on leading a tight-knit team of geology technicians, ensuring safety and production targets are met. You will work closely with the Supervisor: Geological Services and Exploration Geologists to manage the workflow of the core yard daily, achieving maximum throughput.

About the Role
  • Lead and roster geology technicians to meet daily and weekly safety and production targets
  • Coach and mentor geology technicians to build a capable, compliant team that consistently delivers on targets
  • Work with the Supervisor: Geological Services and Exploration Geologists to safely manage the workflow of the core yard daily to achieve maximum throughput
  • Undertake daily quality assurance and quality control checks on tasks being undertaken to ensure industry best practice and identify training gaps
Responsibilities
  • Process diamond core including core mark-up, photography, SG, mag-sus, cutting & sampling
  • Process RC samples, including sample reconciliation and dispatch
  • Ore mark up, Blast Ball monitoring install and pick up and spotting for open pit mining
  • Store, archive and catalogue sample pulps, residues, drill core and miscellaneous samples
  • Operate computers including data entry of drill hole and sample information
  • Control stock levels and raise maintenance requests with SAP
  • Chair pre-start meetings, encouraging active team participation and participate in incident investigations
  • Relief departmental supervisor as and when required
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience leading a highly capable and functioning team
  • Demonstrated experience in trouble shooting problems to deliver the best outcome for the business
  • Demonstrated ability working well with others and adherence to AGA values
  • Proficient with processing diamond drill core and RC drill samples
  • Experience working in an open pit environment
  • Current manual C class WA driver's licence
  • Ability to liaise with contractors, site departments and other key stakeholders is essential
