About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Infection Prevention and Control Specialist to join our team at Calvary St Vincent's and St Luke's campuses in Launceston. As a key member of our Quality and Risk Management team, you will play a vital role in ensuring high standards of infection prevention and control practices.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing operational leadership and management to ensure positive patient outcomes and a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This includes project assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on IPC risks and outcomes, as well as maintaining relevant accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and report on key IPC activities to meet local, state, and national protocols and guidelines.
  • Undertake surveillance, investigations, and audits, including regular reporting and feedback to staff.
  • Provide collaborative leadership and expert advice on organisational IPC risks, including outbreak and contact tracing events.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong background in infection prevention and control, with a Registered Nurse qualification and post-graduate experience. You will also require demonstrated knowledge of HICMR, ACHS, quality improvement, and risk management.

A person-centred approach to supporting staff and patients in communicating IPC risks and system features is essential. High-level communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and conflict resolution skills are also required. Leadership skills, teamwork, and the ability to work effectively under pressure are necessary for success in this role.
