About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chief Operating Officer to provide strategic leadership within our dynamic organisation. The successful candidate will oversee critical functions to ensure continued success and delivery of essential services to the community.

The COO will manage key business support areas including finance, governance, ICT, and capital projects. They will also drive organisational growth through strategic planning and operational improvement.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to the long-term vision and strategy of the Council.

This role requires a highly skilled leader with proven experience in a senior management position within local government or a similar sector. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on people management, financial stewardship, and the ability to drive change while fostering a high-performance culture.

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Oversee financial management, including budget preparation and capital projects.
  • Manage corporate governance, ICT systems, and business support functions.
  • Drive operational improvements, service delivery, and organisational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government and community groups.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and manage organisational risks.

Skill and Experience Required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in finance, business, project management, or local government.
  • Extensive senior leadership experience in local government or a similar environment.
  • Strong capability in financial management, strategic planning, and organisational development.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and manage diverse functions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
