Senior Research Officer in Bioinformatics Position

The Centre for Molecular Oncology at UNSW Australia is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Officer in Bioinformatics to join our research team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of cancer biology through patient-centred discovery programs and clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and contribute to bioinformatics and statistical analysis of population-scale whole genome/transcriptomics datasets using open-source libraries such as GATK and Hail.
- Develop and implement new and cutting-edge bioinformatics tools and pipelines.
- Collaborate with researchers to design and execute experiments, and analyze data to identify novel genetic variants.
- Manage multiple internal and external collaborations, and develop and implement new research projects.
- Train, mentor, and support research staff and students in bioinformatics and statistical analysis.
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in bioinformatics and statistical analysis of population-scale whole genome/transcriptomics datasets.
- Strong publication record and experience in managing multiple internal and external collaborations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team.
