Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused individual to join our team as an Overnight Guest Services Attendant at YHA Cairns Central. This part-time role involves working overnight, including being on-call to attend to guest queries. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the property during off-peak hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to property guests, contributing to a friendly and cheerful atmosphere.
  • Night Phone Management: Possess the night phone and ensure it's clearly displayed in conspicuous areas within the property.
  • Guest Check-in: Check in late arriving guests and provide them with essential information to enhance their stay.
  • Property Rules Enforcement: Ensure property rules are adhered to overnight and maintain harmony among guests.
  • Shift Handovers: Hand over relevant information during shift changeovers.
  • Security and Safety: Oversee the security of the building, address unauthorized persons, and report problem areas to management.

Housekeeping and Cleaning:

  • Cleaning Communal Areas: Clean communal facilities and public areas when required.
  • Deep Cleans: Conduct periodic deep cleans of property rooms, ensuites, and communal facilities.
  • Laundry Management: Control laundry sent and received (for properties using a linen hire company).
  • Rubbish Removal: Remove and sort recycling and rubbish from rooms, corridors, bathrooms, and communal areas.
  • Linen Management:
  • Laundry, Folding, and Restocking: Laundry, fold, and restock linen.

Requirements

  • Availability: Availability to work overnight, including being on-call to attend to guest queries overnight.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Problem-solving skills, including the ability to work independently to solve problems in line with YHA policies and procedures.
  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent customer service skills.
  • First Aid Certification: A valid First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail.
  • Commitment to Safety: Commitment to safety and security.
  • Minimum Shift Commitment: Ability to commit to minimum of 3-hour shifts prior to overnight engagement.
