Role Overview

\

As a vital member of the youth justice system in Queensland, you will play a pivotal role in supporting young people and their families/carers. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive pre-court preparation, including conducting and assisting others to conduct necessary interviews.\
  • Conducting assessments of risk factors, identifying early intervention opportunities, making appropriate referrals, and considering written material to formulate confident court submissions.\
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including Magistrates, Judges, legal representatives, police, Community Justice Groups, and community organisations to ensure quality court services and outcomes for young people and their families/carers.\
  • Providing post-court advice, completing documentation and case notes, and maintaining office systems to ensure efficient management of court appearances and timely recording of outcomes.\
  • Participating in strategic and operational planning, reviews, and decision-making as a member of the youth justice service centre management team.\
  • Providing consultancy and mentoring support to departmental staff and other stakeholders on youth justice court-related matters.\

Requirements

  • Citizenship/visa: Australian citizenship, permanent residency status or a visa permitting work in Australia.\
  • Disclosing previous serious disciplinary action (for current or previous public sector employees).\
  • Making a disclosure of any employment as a lobbyist within one month of starting duty (for newly appointed public service employees).\
