About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Specialist to join our team at Shellharbour City Council. As a key member of our Marketing and Communications business unit, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing communications strategies to promote our projects, priorities, and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications plans to engage with our community and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with our team to create and disseminate high-quality content across various channels, including digital media, print, and social media.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community groups, media outlets, and other external partners.
  • Provide expert advice on communications strategy and tactics to support the achievement of our organizational goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our communications efforts and make recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences and contexts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and stakeholder engagement.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with a wide range of stakeholders.
