Aboriginal Health Practitioner - Primary Care Specialist

This role provides an opportunity to work in a dynamic and culturally sensitive environment, delivering primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

Job Description:

As an Aboriginal Health Practitioner - Primary Care Specialist, you will provide holistic and flexible primary health care services to patients, including direct clinical care, health education, and support for patients and families. You will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve better health access and outcomes.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the social determinants of health and the cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They will be highly motivated, flexible, and able to work effectively in a team environment.

The role involves providing regular health checks, managing chronic diseases, and implementing health promotion and prevention strategies. You will also be involved in the development and delivery of health education programs for patients and staff.

Requirements:
  • Registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) or equivalent qualification
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (both written and verbal)
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capacity to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong understanding of the social determinants of health and the cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • High level of organisational and time management skills
