Therapeutic Support Specialist

 

The role of the Therapeutic Support Specialist plays a pivotal part in providing comprehensive support to young people who are experiencing emotional, behavioural, and psychological difficulties.

This hybrid working position requires regular travel across Grafton, Lismore and Tweed Heads. The successful candidate will have experience working with Children & Young People in out of home care and an understanding of trauma and its effects on children and young people.

Main Responsibilities

- Develop high-quality, therapeutic case plans for Children and Young People in care
- Build functional and supportive relationships with children and young people in therapeutic care - Significant Disability as well as their families to support positive outcomes
- Participate in shifts within intensive therapeutic care homes, and work closely with the team
- Meet with clients and family members to gather input for case plans and ensure their views are represented
- Coordinate and network with other agencies to effectively achieve case plan goals within tight time frames.
- Participate in an on-call roster as required
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, statutory and contractual requirements in relation to service delivery management

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Relevant degree or diploma, with a willingness to undertake further training where necessary
- Previous case management experience within Intensive Therapeutic Care or Out Of Home Care settings
- Experience supporting Children & Young People with disability, who have experienced backgrounds of trauma, abuse and/or neglect
- Understanding of current casework practices for children and young people
- Current drivers' licence
