About the Role

SMS Mining Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety and Training Advisor to join our team in the Pilbara region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to support our maintenance teams.
  • Conduct initial incident investigations and reporting, and collate and analyze relevant safety data.
  • Develop and implement effective risk management strategies, including General Risk and Critical Risk assessments.
  • Review and update site management plans, including Safety Plans and Traffic Management.
  • Assist in the injury management process and actively participate in improvement activities, such as inspections, audits, and training needs analysis.
  • Responsible for the training and assessing of all maintenance workers onsite.
Requirements
  • Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety (minimum) or Diploma (desirable).
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessing – TAE.
  • Sound understanding of current Work Health and Safety Legislations.
  • Ability to accurately complete an ICAM.
  • Qualifications in completing and conducting audits are highly advantageous.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of risk management, including JHA, Risk Registers, and Critical Risk.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a site-based Safety and Training role within a mining or maintenance environment.
  • Excellent time management and coordination of work planning skills.
  • Ability to undertake a gap analysis of site training matrix/training needs analysis (TNA).
  • Hold the required competencies to be able to be registered through an RTO, to deliver Nationally Recognised Training.
