Key Security Operations Centre (SOC) Analyst Roles and Responsibilities

Main Job Responsibilities:
  • Mentor junior SOC team members in security operations centre skills and procedures
  • Serve as the first point of contact for SOC analysts, assisting with resolving technical issues and escalating complex cases to senior management
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate potential cyber threats
  • Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with cross-functional teams to resolve complex security incidents
  • Develop and maintain high-quality documentation of security processes and procedures
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the SOC team, focusing on process enhancements and efficiency gains
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience in security operations centre roles, with a strong background in threat intelligence and incident response
  • Strong knowledge of network technologies, including DNS, web, and mail protocols, as well as OWASP top-ten principles
  • Proven ability to analyze and investigate complex security incidents, utilizing techniques such as forensic analysis and correlation analysis
  • Familiarity with SIEM and UEBA technologies, as well as SOAR platforms and playbook development
  • Experience with EDR tools, such as Defender ATP and CrowdStrike, and a thorough understanding of the MITRE ATT&CK framework and Cyber kill-chain
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to document and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
